Berlin WelcomeCard

The market leader is the WelcomeCard of the city of Berlin. For almost all tourists staying only a few days in Berlin, the WelcomeCard is a great and sufficient tourist card. The WelcomeCard is comparatively inexpensive. You can use the entire public transport system (U-Bahn-S-Bahn, tram, buses, etc.) for free. In addition, there are considerable discounts of between 25% and 50% at many sights in Berlin.

The WelcomeCard Berlin is available for 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days and 6 days. In each case there are 2 versions. Local transport zone A and B (entire city area of Berlin) and for a few euros more including the surrounding area of Berlin in Brandenburg (zones A, B and C). In Zone C, Potsdam and, for the return flight, Schönefeld Airport are of particular interest to tourists. Tegel Airport is in Zone B, as are all the major railway stations in Berlin.

Another great thing about the Berlin Welcome Card is the free handbook, a travel guide with descriptions of the 200 discounted attractions. You can also get greatly reduced prices in many restaurants, cafes and other places with the Welcome Card.

Berlinpass

This is an all-inclusive ticket. This means that admission to many sights with this Tourist Card Berlinpass is not reduced, but free. On the other hand, the Berlin Pass is of course more expensive than the WelcomeCard. It is valid for 3 days. If you want to see a lot in 3 days, you can save a lot of money with the Berlin Pass.

Around 50 sights are free with the Berlin Pass. These include rather expensive attractions such as the museums on Museum Island, Legoland Berlin, the Sealife Aquarium, the Berlin Dungeon or the Madame Tussauds waxworks. Plus around 30 museums such as the Gemäldegalerie Berlin or the Hamburger Bahnhof (modern art). The Olympic Stadium and Berlin Cathedral are also free. The Berlin Pass also includes a boat trip on the Spree and a large bus tour.

This ticket is available with and without local transport. With the Berlin Pass, you don’t have to queue for a long time at the ticket office at many sights, but can go straight to the entrance, which saves a lot of time.

Which Tourist Card should I buy now?

We think that for most tourists staying a few days in the German capital, the flexible WelcomeCard is a great thing. If you want to see a lot in a few days, you should take a closer look at the Berlinpass. If you want to spend a few days at a time mainly visiting museums, you can also just buy the Museum Pass.

We recommend buying the Tourist Cards online at Getyourguide.de before travelling to Berlin.

A big advantage of such tourist tickets is that you can see more than without a City Pass. Once you have bought such a Tourist Card, you are more likely to go into the sights because of the free or lower entrance fee. Also, sometimes you don’t have to queue as long at the ticket office.
