Sea Life Berlin has a special feature, the AquaDom. It is the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world. As a visitor, you can travel through it in a lift. The actual name of the entire aquarium attraction is “AquaDom & SEA LIFE Berlin”. But the two parts belong together. As far as we know, tickets are only available for Sea Life including the Aqua Dom.

Sea Life is in Berlin Mitte, not far from Museum Island and Alexanderplatz. The entrance fees are quite high, but there are ways to save if you book online or book other attractions at the same time (see yellow box).

After the ticket office, you first come to an area with local fish, which we particularly liked. Typical fish from the Spree and Wannsee lakes swim in large tanks. You then pass through about 10 other themed areas such as seahorses, jellyfish, crabs, schools of fish, North Sea, Mediterranean and much more. The large marine fish such as rays and sharks are particularly popular. Everything is well explained with displays, signs, charts and so on. You can walk through an aquarium with fish from the Atlantic, the fish like rays swim directly above the heads of visitors to Sea Life Berlin. Many visitors also particularly like the octopuses. In total there are more than 5000 fish and other animals. In addition, Sea Life Berlin has other attractions such as a labyrinth with mirrors and lots of little things to do, especially for children.

Another great thing about Sea Life Berlin is the public feedings of the fish and other marine animals. Some feedings are only 1-2 times a week, others daily. The school of fish is fed daily at 11:30 a.m., for example, the feeding in the large Atlantic tank is Monday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. There are about 7 other dates for feedings, these are posted at Berlin Sea Life.

At the end, you go into the big attraction, the gigantic aquarium tank AquaDom. A lift takes you up the cylindrical basin in the middle, and you can see sea creatures on all sides. It is the largest aquarium basin of its kind on earth with around 1 million litres of water.
